Fairfield offers reward for info leading to vandalism conviction

FAIRFIELD - AL -

Fairfield Council President Darnell Gardner does not find recent thefts and vandalism of city property as a laughing matter. In fact, he wants answers, so he called a special meeting to address the crimes and announce a reward.

The city is now offering $4,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.

Councilman Willie Hardley is the Chairman of Public Safety. He says while investigating the bush hog mower and tractor thefts from October 27, a brake line and harness wires were severed on a garbage truck on December 19th and 20th.

"Theft and vandalism of city property will not be tolerated in the city of Fairfield and the Council will exhaust all efforts to ensure that it does not continue, " wrote Hardley.

If you have info, please call Fairfield Police at 786-5176 or the council at 781-6961.
