Deputies: Man left cell phone at scene of burglary

CHEROKEE COUNTY, AL -

The Cherokee County Sheriff announced the arrest today of David Bone of Sand Rock.

Sheriff Jeff Saver says on Friday, investigators were called to the scene of a burglary in Leesburg. Officers found a cell phone at the scene and obtained burglary warrants for the phone's owner which was Bone. While executing the arrest warrants on Bone at his house, Bone found several items reported stolen from the homeowner in Leesburg. While searching the house, deputies found evidence looking Bone to two other burglaries in the same area of Leesburg.

Bone is now charged with third-degree burglar, first degree theft of property, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He is also charged with escaped after he tried to escape from officers while handcuffed. These cases remain under investigation and additional charges are expected against Bone.
