Double shooting in Tuscaloosa leaves one dead, two teens arrested

Two teens have been arrested in connection with a double shooting in Tuscaloosa Friday afternoon that left one man dead.

Joshua Marquise Hall, 19, and Tevin Demarcus Hall, 18, were taken into custody by homicide investigators Friday night after they allegedly opened fire into a crowd in the 2900 block of Ash Street around 2 p.m., killing 24-year-old Johnny Terrell Sledge and wounding a 20-year-old man.

Both suspects have been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder. They are being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $145,000 bonds.

According to a release from the sheriff's office, the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute over "various issues" between two groups of people.

The surviving victim was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Update 8:54 p.m.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said Friday night that an ongoing dispute between two groups of people led to a double shooting that left one man dead.

According to Sgt. Dale Phillips, at least two suspects, who remain at large, fired shots into a crowd, killing 24-year-old Johnny Terrell Sledge and wounding another 20-year-old male. Both victims were said to be unarmed at the time of the shooting.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The sheriff's office is being assisted in the investigation by Tuscaloosa police and anyone with information regarding the case is asked to please contact the homicide unit at 205-752-0616 or Crime Stoppers at 205-752-STOP.

Authorities are investigating a double shooting Friday night in Tuscaloosa that left one person dead, the sheriff's office confirmed to ABC 33/40.

The shooting occurred at a home near the Mc Donald Hughes Community Center at the intersection of Ash Street and 29th Avenue. One person was shot to death while the other was transported to an area hospital. The condition of the surviving victim is unknown at this time.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit announced it would hold a news conference at 8:45 p.m. to discuss the incident.
