Two men spent Christmas night in the Tuscaloosa County Jail after being arrested for breaking into an area package store to steal booze.

Terrence Jerome Trotter, 43, of Northport, and Franklin Garrett Wedgeworth, 32, of Tuscaloosa, were arrested after they allegedly forced their way into the ABC Beverage Store off of University Boulevard shortly after 2 a.m. and stole several bottles of alcohol.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a burglary at 2:36 a.m. at the store and arrived to find the front door damaged. Surveillance video showed the two suspects stealing alcohol and leaving in a vehicle, which police were able to locate a few hours later in the 1900 block of MLK Jr. Blvd.

Trotter and Wedgeworth were taken into custody and after questioning, both men were charged with one count of third-degree burglary. They are being held on $15,000 bonds.
