Firefighters are battling a 3-alarm blaze at an apartment building in north Birmingham Tuesday.

Fire and rescue crews were called to Uptown Apartments in the 1500 block of 19th Street North shortly after 11 a.m. Upon arriving, flames could be seen shooting through the roof the 3-floor building.

According to Battalion Chief Tim Love, no one was injured in the fire. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.

The Red Cross has been requested at the scene to assist some of the displaced residents.

This is the second fire at the apartment complex in 2013. Firefighters put out a fire on the third floor of the complex in March.
