One dead, two stabbed at birthday party

According to Jefferson County Sheriff's office, the shooting suspect contacted detectives and turned himself. At about 1:30 am Saturday morning deputies responded to a report of a large fight involving guns at a business in the 200 block of Center Point Parkway in an unincorporated part of the county.

Deputies arrived to find that two men had been stabbed and a third had been shot. The stabbing victims were transported to an area hospital. The shooting victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The stabbing victims were treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

The business is a venue commonly rented for parties. It had been rented for a birthday party on this occasion. The investigation indicated that there was a large fight and two people were stabbed. A suspect then entered the back door of the business and began firing a gun into the crowd. The deceased victim was found in the parking lot of the business.

The suspect fled before deputies arrived. He was identified as 28 year old Marcus Jarrell White of Birmingham. Marcus Jarell White contacted detectives and turned himself in just before 11:00 am yesterday morning. He was charged with murder and placed in the Jefferson County Jail. He posted $50,000 bond and was released.

The shooting victim has been identified as Roosevelt Parker Jr. of Birmingham.
