Posted: Updated:

Two Birmingham City schools will get the gifts new technology and money today.  Councilor Lashunda Scales wanted to surprise the schools in her district.

She has purchased four laptops for Sun Valley Elementary School for the media lab, which assists students with learning disabilities.  She has also given $3000 to W. J. Christian K-8 School's 'Green Chargers' as well as one laptop for the school's city-wide ecological and environmental initiative.  7th and 8th grade created the program to recycle litter in the neighborhood.
"Students' success rate is what the community invests into them", Councilor Scales says. "Whether it's moral and financial support or by providing educational resources. You evolve communities by training our youngest citizens how to become more productive members of society. I am just glad to be one of the many villagers that have chosen to make a tangible difference in the lives of our most precious resource."
