Jasper man pleads guilty to Walker County bank robbery and bomb threats

A Jasper man pleaded guilty in federal court, Wednesday, to armed robbery of a Walker County bank, calling in bomb threats on a hospital and a highway bridge before the robbery, and possessing guns as a convicted felon.

Brandon Joseph Peake, 32, made a plea agreement with the government.

Walker Baptist Medical Center was evacuated and a stretch of Highway 69 in Jasper was shut down on the morning of July 5th due to the threat.  The armed robbery of Traders and Farmers Bank on Curry Highway happened later that afternoon.  Peake was taken into custody by U.S. Marshal's several days later in Tennessee.

Peake's sentencing is scheduled April 21, 2014.
