Clinton, Ryan lead Iowa for 2016 Presidential race

Posted: Updated:

Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin are in the lead in a potential 2016 presidential race.  That information comes from a new poll by the Des Moines Register.

Ryan, who ran as Mitt Romney's VP in 2012, has a 73 percent favorability rating.  That's higher than previous GOP Iowa caucus winners Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum.

Clinton is seen as favorable by 89 percent of Democrats.  That's more than Vice President Joe Biden.   However, the former Secretary of State remains one of the most polarizing political figures, with 59 percent of Republicans saying they don't like her.
