Saturday's fatal crash victim identified

Jefferson County Coroner's Office says 28-year-old Bristinia Jannecia Fuller of Birmingham was killed when she crashed into a utility pole. It happened Saturday night. Homewood police were trying to stop Fuller after witnesses identified her vehicle as the one involved in a shoplifting at Babies "R" Us. Two other people were injured.

UPDATE - 12/15/13

Homewood police say they received a call about shoplifters at Babies "R" Us Saturday night. Officers arrived at the store and were notified that the suspects fled the scene in a green SUV.

Officers attempted to stop the truck that fled westbound on Lakeshore Pkwy.

It ended when the SUV hit a power pole and another car on Lakeshore and West Oxmoor Rd.

One person was pronounced dead on the scene. Two others were injured. No names have been released at this time.

One person is dead after a police chase in Jefferson County, Saturday evening.

According to Birmingham Police, officers from Homewood Police Department were pursuing a vehicle when the driver struck a pole at Lakeshore Parkway and West Oxmoor Road.

Police say the car hit the pole and then struck another vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that was being pursued has died as a result of the crash, according to police. The driver of the other vehicle has been taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Police have not released details as to why the vehicle was being pursued, or the identity of the driver.
