Autopsy shows Pickens 'Courthouse' lady was brutally murdered

TUSCALOOSA - AL -

Pickens County authorities have released the autopsy results in the death of well-known historian, Dora Johnson.

Johnson's body was found at her Carrollton home with the body of her 63-year old daughter, Patricia Hudson and 53-year old son John Johnson last Thursday at midnight.

Authorities believe he stabbed his mother and sister to death multiple times then shot himself in the head..

The motive is still not clear but police say during the week before the murders, Johnson and her son had argued over finances , in particular a cell phone bill.

ABC 33/40 has also learned that on the day of the killings Dora Johnson visited the courthouse to transfer her automobile into her daughter's name.  Investigators suspect that may have fueled her son's rage.   However, they may never have a clear picture of what happened.

Dora Johnson is credited with helping to preserving many historical sites in Pickens County.  She was most known as the courthouse lady who helped turn the 'face in the window' into a tourist attraction.

Johnson and her daughter will be laid to rest this weekend in Carrollton Cemetery.  Her son will be cremated.
