Wellness experts suggest a good way to manage your health over the holidays is by making time for stress-reducing techniques, the same ones you've practiced all year.

"Maybe you meditated or did yoga 20 minutes, twice a day. Now you might not have that luxury because you'll have to spend many more hours preparing things, so just make sure you do it at least once a day and if you can't do 20 minutes, do 10 minutes," Dr. Mladen Golubic at the Cleveland Clinic.

When faced with numerous responsibilities and tasks or the demands of an illness, relaxation techniques may take a back seat in your life. But that means you might miss out on the health benefits of relaxation.

Practicing relaxation techniques can reduce stress symptoms by:

Slowing your heart rate
Lowering blood pressure
Slowing your breathing rate
Increasing blood flow to major muscles
Reducing muscle tension and chronic pain
Improving concentration
Reducing anger and frustration
Boosting confidence to handle problems
