UPDATE: Police charge suspect in Iron Bowl homicide

Hoover police have charged Adrian Laroze Briskey with murder following Saturday's deadly shooting at an Iron Bowl watch party.

Briskey is accused of shooting and killing Michelle Shepherd Saturday night at Summerchase at Riverchase Apartments in Hoover.

The Hoover Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of building #1600. Michelle Shepherd was pronounced dead at the scene. Shepherd and Briskey, didn't know each other prior to the party.

Briskey was taken into custody at the scene. Hoover Detectives met with the Shelby County District Attorney on Monday to present the facts of the case. A warrant was issued for Briskey; the charge is murder. Briskey was transferred from the Hoover City Jail to the Shelby County Jail.

Michelle's sister, Neketa Shepherd, was at the party when she died. She says she was right by her side. "I was just holding her. I was telling her don't leave me. Don't leave these kids. I told her I need her. That's my big sister and I only have one sister," says Shepherd.

Michelle Shepherd leaves behind three children. Neketa will now be the primary caretaker.

Adrian Briskey bonded out at $75,000 from the Shelby County Jail.

Police say the victim in this case was a female in her 30's. Family and residents say her name is Michelle Shepherd. The suspect was a female in her 20's.

The victim and the suspect both attended an Iron Bowl party at Summerchase Apartments in Hoover; the victim and the suspect did not know each other prior to the party. The victim and the suspect were both Alabama fans, and were involved in a verbal argument after the game.

The argument moved to the parking lot, and became a physical altercation on the ground. The victim was shot with a small caliber handgun.

The suspect remains in Hoover Police custody; the case continues to be investigated by Hoover Police detectives. The facts of the case will be presented to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office. The Shelby County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the victim.

Another update is expected Monday afternoon.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday night at a Hoover apartment complex shortly after Iron Bowl.

ABC 33/40 has confirmed that one woman was killed in the shooting and another woman is in custody. 

The incident happened around 8 p.m. at Summerchase Apartments at Riverchase. Neighbor's reported hearing an argument after Auburn's win over Alabama then gunshots a short time later.

The identities of the victim and suspect have yet to be released as police continue to investigate.
