Teen killed in Bibb County wreck

BIBB COUNTY - AL -

An early evening wreck Friday claimed the life of a Brent teenager.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident that claimed the life of 16 year old Desmine Jaquari Phillips. The accident happened about 7:25 p.m. on Alabama highway 5 just outside of Brent.

According to troopers, Phillips lost control of his vehicle and crossed the roadway hitting another car head-on. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the other car is identified as James Harris of Marion, Alabama. He was transported to DCH medical center in Tuscaloosa with non-life threatening injuries.

    Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey is on a mission to shut down several Instagram accounts degrading young women throughout the county. The accounts with names such as "WHORESOFBLOUNTCOUNTY" and "SLUTSOFSUSANMORE" show pictures of teenagers with degrading comments underneath. Casey said the pictures are used without the girls' permission. One site has been taken down, and Casey has asked the social media website to remove them all.More >>
