ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Mark Richt says he regrets not reminding Georgia players to knock down a pass at the end of last week's loss to Auburn even though he says the defense prepares for similar situations every week.

Auburn's Ricardo Louis made the 73-yard touchdown catch with 25 seconds remaining that gave the Tigers a 43-38 win. Richt says no coach, including defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, told the defense to bat down the fourth-and-18 pass.

Richt said Tuesday he had the opportunity "to coach that up and didn't do it" in a timeout before the play.

Georgia safety Josh Harvey-Clemons deflected the pass while trying for an interception. Safety Tray Matthews also defended the play.

The loss ended Georgia's SEC championship hopes. The Bulldogs will play Kentucky on Saturday night.
