Area Firefighters Help Battle Industrial Fire in Verdigris

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters in the area were called to the scene of an industrial building fire early Tuesday morning in Verdigris.

Crews responded to the UPCO manufacturing plant where fire broke out around 3:30 Tuesday. When they arrived they discovered flames coming from a part of the building.

According to officials at the scene, the plant manufactures sucker rods. Those are steel rods used at the bottom of pumps in oil wells.

At the scene KTUL learned that there were hazardous materials inside the building. Those reportedly caused explosions inside during the fire attack.

Officials at the scene stated that there were no reports of injuries. Employees of the industrial plant had not gotten to work yet.

Fire crews in Verdigris and Rogers County assisted in the fire attack.
