Free Tax Workshop Offered to Area New Business Owners

Posted: Updated:

The Alabama Department of Revenue is offering a free tax workshop to new business owners in the Gadsden area.

The workshop will explain a number of state tax topics. Presenters will provide information on employer withholding taxes, state and local sales taxes, property taxes, business licensing requirements, and Alabama's child labor law.  Participants will also get a chance to overview Alabama's business tax electronic filing programs.

Department of Revenue personnel will be on hand with information about Alabama's new free internet filing and payment portal, called ONE SPOT. This new system provides taxpayers with a one-stop-shop option for handling state, county, city sales, use and rental taxes.

The workshop will be held at the Elliot Community Center at 2827 W. Meighan Blvd. on Tuesday, December 3 at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

For more information on the New Business Workshop, link to the department's Web site at www.revenue.alabama.gov or call (256) 547-0554.
