Carrington says, "We'll continue to say prayer"

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

As the Supreme Court continues to debate the role of religion in public meetings, Jefferson County Commission President, David Carrington, says he will continue to pray before beginning business in county chambers.

"I believe the majority, a significant majority of Alabamians, believe in prayer," Carrington said. "And, so, as long as I'm president, we'll continue to say prayer and I think that's the feeling of the County Manager and the other commissioners."

The Supreme Court's case stems from a New York town's city council, where controversy sparked after having Christian prayers before starting meetings.
