A 60-year-old man died Tuesday after being hit by a car while doing yard work, authorities confirmed to ABC 33/40.

According to the Helena police, the driver of the vehicle reportedly was blinded by the sun when she hit the man on a street in the Laurel Lakes subdivision.

The victim, who was set to celebrate a birthday later this month, stepped into the street while doing lawn work and was struck by the woman's car.

"Today we responded to the Laurel Lakes subdivision on a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle," Sgt. Chris Rollan said in a release. "It is believed that the victim was using a backpack leaf blower, standing in the roadway, with his back towards the traffic lanes when he was struck."

Police do not expect any criminal charges to be filed. An investigation remains ongoing.
