JEFFERSON COUNTY - AL -

People were out at Avondale Park, Saturday, enrolling for health insurance plans with The Affordable Care Act.

Trained navigators helped walk newcomers through the paperwork.

To make the experience more enjoyable, organizers offered hot dogs and snacks for those enrolling. There were also hoola-hoops and music.

Enroll Alabama Navigator, Lauren Banks, says these enrollment fairs are a helpful service to the community.

"We had three people at 9:00 a. m. waiting for us to start signing people up," she said. "So, yeah, the response has been tremendous. In all, there are about 650,000 people uninsured. So, there are a lot of people we can reach."

Organizers say enrollment fairs will be in many communities throughout the year.

To schedule an appointment or have Enroll Alabama come to your church group or other organizations, you can call 205-918-8192, or visit www.enrollala.com.
