Three men arrested for dog fighting in Tuscaloosa County

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY-AL -

Three men are behind bars accused of fighting two dogs in Tuscaloosa County Tuesday night. The fight reportedly occurred around 8 p.m. on the 3100 block of Maxwell Loop Road.

Rashad Jones, 21, Leonard Hines, 22, and Xavier Long, 23, were arrested.

 Jones, of Moundville, is charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, one count of Dog Fighting and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd. Hines, of Tuscaloosa, was arrested for 2 counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and one count of Dog Fighting. Long, of Tuscaloosa, is charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and one count of Dog Fighting.

A juvenile was also arrested and is being charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Animal Cruelty and one count of Dog Fighting.

One dog was transported to the Animal Shelter. A court hearing is pending to determine the dog's disposition. The other dog, which was severely injured, was taken to a local veterinarian. The Sheriff's Office said the dog is on pain medications and is recovering.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating, and more arrests are expected.
