BIRMINGHAM-AL -

Enroll Alabama is launching events statewide, designed to help Alabamians access Affordable Care Act information, compare Marketplace insurance plans, and learn how to sign up with the assistance of a local Navigator.

The events are scheduled to take place November 2-3.

Locations and times for the events are:

November 2

Birmingham ] Avondale Park, 3809 10th Avenue South ] 9am to 12 noon

Mobile ] Providence Hospital, 6801 Airport Blvd ] 11am to 2pm

Gadsden ] Gadsden Regional Medical Center ] 1007 Goodyear Avenue

10am ] 2pm

November 3

Montgomery ] Oak Park (Shelter #3), 1010 Forest Avenue ] 12 noon to 3pm

Enroll Alabama says the law makes it possible for the 16% of Alabamians who do not currently have healthcare insurance to obtain comprehensive, affordable coverage. While some of the provisions of the law have already gone into effect, others, like eliminating preexisting conditions, will take effect on January 1, 2014.

Navigator and Volunteer Coordinator, Douglas Hoffman of Birmingham said, "I just finished helping a woman enroll in one of the Marketplace insurance plans she took my hand, said 'thank you' then she cried. She said this will be the first time in years that she will be able to see a doctor and actually get her needed medication."
