Auburn's Jeremy Johnson named SEC Freshman of the Week

Posted: Updated:

Jeremy Johnson continued the trend of award winning performances by Auburn quarterbacks.

Johnson is the SEC Freshman of the Week after he threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers 45-10 win over FAU.

It's the second time Johnson has received the honor and the third straight week the SEC has honored an Auburn quarterback.

Johnson earned freshman honors two weeks ago for his performance against Western Carolina. Nick Marshall was SEC Offensive Player of the Week last week after the Tigers upset Texas A&M.

Marshall injured his shoulder in the first half against FAU. Johnson came on in relief and threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Sammie Coates on the first play.

Johnson and Coates later connected on a 67-yard touchdown.

Johnson has thrown for 393 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions this season.

Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee said he thought Marshall "should be okay" to play this week when Auburn plays Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Donald Reynolds Stadium.
