Week nine of the Alabama high school football season got underway Thursday night with a nationally televised matchup between AHSAA Class 6A No. 1 Hoover and Tuscaloosa County at the Hoover Met.

The defending state champion Bucs clinched its second consecutive Region 5 title after pitching its third shutout of the year with a 41-0 rout of the Wildcats. Hoover will look to end the regular season with a perfect record next week when they meet Opelika in a rematch of last year's 6A state title game.

Mike Raita and al.com prep sports editor Jeff Sentell will break down the Blitz Game of the Week, which features two one-loss Class 4A teams in Calera and Jemison, during Blitz Gameday. Watch the show beginning at 6:15 p.m. on ABC 33/40 or live online here.
