Man walking dog discovers roommate, woman shot to death outside Heflin home

The two victims found shot to death outside a home in Heflin Thursday morning have been identified.

Todd Robbins, 31, and Krista Medders, 21, were found dead around 9:30 a.m. in the yard of a home located in the 300 block of Gray Road. The two victims were considered acquaintances prior to their deaths, but they were romantically involved in the past.

It has yet to be determined if the incident will be investigated as a murder-suicide.

"We do not have anyone in custody and do not have any reason to believe we have a suspect at large," Chief AJ Benefield told ABC 33/40's Robert Richardson.

A man and woman were found shot to death outside a home in Heflin Thursday morning, authorities confirmed to ABC 33/40.

According to Heflin police, a neighbor walking a dog discovered the bodies of a 31-year-old man and 21-year-old woman in the yard of a home located in the 300 block of Gray Road around 9:30 a.m. It is unknown at this time if the two lived at the residence. Their identities are being withheld.

While it has yet to be determined if the deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide, police are not searching for any suspects.

An investigation remains ongoing.
