UAB Announces Homecoming Week Plans

The University of Alabama at Birmingham will celebrate Homecoming 2013 with a week of fun events beginning Sunday, October 27. The theme this year is "Unleash the Dragon". 

Homecoming Week will begin with a Paint the Town on Sunday, October 27 with students painting community and campus windows with messages. On Game Day, Blazer Village will open at 9 a.m. There will be shuttles running from Blazer and Camp Halls to Legion Field free for UAB students and fans. The winner of the Mr. And Miss UAB Scholarship competition will be announced during halftime.

Students can also come to a comedy show featuring Jessimae Peluso and Donnell Rawlings from the MTV reality comedy show's "Girl Code" and "Guy Code." The show will be held Tuesday, October 29 beginning at 7 p.m. in UAB's Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. It is free.

Other Homecoming Week events include the Blazer Hustle, Pancakes and Karaoke, the Fall Festival, Stompdown and Blaze the Night.

There will also be a Halloween blood drive on Thursday, October 31st in the Blazer Hall Residence Life Center. HOurs are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The homecoming parade is set for noon on Friday, November 1st. The parade route will start at 14th Avenue South, down 10th Avenue South to 20th Street South where it will return along University Boulevard. For more information on homecoming week, go to www.uab.edu/students.
