BIRMINGHAM - AL -

The annual Hispanic Festival, "Fiesta," was underway at Linn Park, Saturday.

Now in its 11th year, organizers expected between 10,000 and 15,000 visitors.

The festival educates the public about different Hispanic countries and cultures.

"We're really excited this year to work with the city [of Birmingham] on the 50th year anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement," one organizer said. "We have a plaque in the back here that has the Birmingham Pledge. It has it, of course, in English and in Spanish and if you come out today you'll get a chance to dip your hand in paint and put your hand prints on that. A really special, really neat thing, today."

Proceeds from Saturday's Fiesta Festival go to a scholarship fund.

People who came out sampled various kinds of food, listened to music and strolled through the arts and crafts village.
