Rundown of college football games for Alabama colleges

THURSDAY'S GAME

West Alabama vs. Delta State, 6:30 p.m.

West Alabama (3-1, 1-0 Gulf South Conference) will either move into first place in the GSC standings or fall 1½ games behind Delta State (3-1, 2-0) and risk losing the tiebreaker.

The Tigers are ranked No. 12 in Division II.

SATURDAY'S GAMES

Tuskegee at Fort Valley State, 5 p.m.

Tuskegee (3-1, 1-0 SIAC) plays on the road for the fifth consecutive week to start the season. The Golden Tigers recorded 546 yards of total offense in last week's 42-14 victory over Lane.

Fort Valley (2-2, 2-0) has won two straight by eight points total.

Alabama A&M vs. Mississippi Valley State, 1 p.m.

Alabama A&M quarterback Brandon Wells continues to receive playing time despite a broken finger. Wells led the Bulldogs (2-3, 2-1 SWAC) on a game-winning, fourth-quarter touchdown drive in last week's 12-10 victory over Texas Southern.

Mississippi Valley State (0-4, 0-2) has started 0-4 for the third time in the past four seasons.

Alabama State vs. Texas Southern, 6 p.m.

Since opening the season 0-2, Alabama State (3-2, 3-1 SWAC) has averaged 47 points per game in winning the past three.

Texas Southern (0-4, 0-3), which is allowing an average of 46.3 points per game, has lost seven straight dating to last season.

Jacksonville State at Tennessee-Martin, 2 p.m.

Jacksonville State (4-1, 0-1 OVC) has played in three consecutive overtime games, losing for the first time last week to Murray State 35-34.

Tennessee-Martin (3-1, 1-0) has allowed an average of 17 points per game in its three victories.

North Alabama at Shorter, 12:30 p.m.

North Alabama (1-2, 0-1 Gulf South Conference) will be seeking its first victory since the season-opener exactly one month earlier. The Lions lost by a field goal in back-to-back games, and then were off last weekend.

Shorter (0-4, 0-2) is averaging 203.8 yards rushing per game with its option offense, but has committed 13 turnovers and averaged only 14.7 points.

Miles at Benedict, 2 p.m.

After turning in its best defensive performance of the season, Miles (1-2, 1-0 SIAC) will take on a Benedict team that has scored 30 or more points in the three of its four games.

The Golden Bears allowed a total of 73 points in losing the first two games of the season, then held Albany State to two touchdowns in a 22-14 victory.

Benedict (2-2, 1-1) is coming off a 35-30 loss to Fort Valley State.

Stillman vs. Lane College, 5 p.m.

Stillman (3-1, 2-0 SIAC) looks to remain undefeated in conference play a week after rallying from a 14-0 second-half deficit to win at Kentucky State. Quarterback Josh Straughan threw four touchdowns to four different receivers in the victory.

Lane (2-2, 0-1) lost its conference opener last week to Tuskegee 42-14.
