Friday Night Blitz: Week 3 lineup of high school football coverage (links)

No. 6 Homewood will host Briarwood in a Class 5A Region 4 showdown in the Friday Night Blitz Game of the Week. No. 6 Homewood will host Briarwood in a Class 5A Region 4 showdown in the Friday Night Blitz Game of the Week.

Season 18 of Friday Night Blitz rolls into week three of the high school football season by featuring a matchup between two perennial Class 5A powerhouses in Homewood and Briarwood.

The sixth-ranked Patriots (1-1) will host the Lions (1-1) in a Region 4 matchup at Waldrop Stadium, where Mike Raita and al.com prep sports editor Jeff Sentell will be live prior to kickoff for Blitz Gameday. The show will begin at 6:14 p.m. and you can watch it live on ABC 33/40 or online here.

Both Homewood and Briarwood will enter the game coming off victories last week. The Patriots blew out Chilton County on the road, 42-7, while the Lions put away Sylacauga at home, 26-15. Be sure to tune into Friday Night Blitz beginning at 10:20 p.m. for all the highlights from the game! Raita and Jeff Speegle will give you scores from around the state.
