Alabama man scamming people from jail

Posted: Updated:

A man imprisoned in Georgia is charged in an Alabama telephone scam.  Jesse Barrett Mainor, 23, faces one count of impersonating a police officer, even though he's already in prison.  Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson says someone posing as a police officer or court official made a series of phone calls to people in the town, demanding money. Thompson says investigators tracked the calls to Mainor.  He is originally from Prattville, but is currently serving time in Georgia.
Georgia prison records show Mainor is serving 15 years for robbery and assault in Lowndes County, Georgia. He's being held at Autry state prison near Pelham, Georgia.
Court records aren't available online to show whether Mainor has an attorney in the Alabama case.
