Mom, girlfriend of Alabama QB AJ McCarron land cover of Mobile magazine for women

Posted: Updated:

The girlfriend and mother of Alabama's star quarterback AJ McCarron are now both magazine covergirls.

McCarron's girlfriend, model Katherine Webb, and his mother, Dee Dee Bonner, landed on the front of Access Magazine, a Mobile-area publication for women. The two were featured in an article about football and fashion, and they also discussed their experiences as the most important women in the life of a uber-successful college quarterback for the nation's top-ranked team.

Webb burst into the national spotlight in January during the broadcast of the Crimson Tide's BCS National Championship game against Notre Dame, which the team won convincingly, marking back-to-back national titles for Alabama. Her fame continued to rise after the game when she landed a spot on ABC's reality show Splash and a job as a model in Sports Illustrated's 2013 Swimsuit Issue.

Bonner, the proud mother of two sons who play football at the Capstone, said she enjoyed the photo shoot with "her favorite girl" and leaned on Webb for her experience in front of the camera.

"It was like playing dress up," Bonner said. "Katherine is used to doing the modeling thing so she was showing me the ropes."

If the football talking-heads are correct in their predictions of McCarron and Alabama hoisting the crystal ball yet again at season's end, she and Webb could be spending even more time in the spotlight, something Bonner says she would welcome.

"I could get used to having my hair and make-up done!"
