Members of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham are putting the last touches on renovations ahead of the city's "Empowerment Week" September 11-15.

The five-day event, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement, wraps up with a service at the iconic church honoring the bombing of 1963. The church's pastor Rev. Arthur Price says they are expecting a full sanctuary as well as many people to crowd into overflow rooms.

The total cost of renovations for painting, a bathroom upgrade, new pews and other changes cost $250,000, Price says. The City of Birmingham gave $50,000 toward some of those renovations.

Tune into ABC 33/40 for a walk-through as the church prepares to host hundreds, including national dignitaries and celebrities.
