Charges Filed Against Parents, Grandmother of Kids Found in Filthy Home

Posted: Updated:

The parents and grandmother of three young children found in what authorities called a "disgusting" home have been formally charged in Tulsa County.

Parents Matthew and Angela Prior and grandmother Janet Friend were each charged with one count of child neglect on Monday.

The three are behind bars in a Tulsa County jail on a $150,000 bond each, while the three children, ages 2, 3, and 5, are in DHS custody.

The parents were arrested last Tuesday after police arrived to conduct a welfare check on the children at the home in the 1200 block of N. 76th E. Ave. and said they found "trash, dirty diapers, spoiled food, empty soda cans, broken glass, dirty dishes and electrical hazards" throughout the entire home, as well as "thousands of flies and cockroaches."

Two days later, police also arrested the children's grandmother, Janet Friend, on a charge of child neglect.

According to police, the children were in DHS custody but had been placed back in the home to "attempt reunification."
