A teenager wounded two people at a party in Tuscaloosa early Saturday morning after opening fire on the crowd with an assault rifle.

Tuscaloosa County sheriff's investigators responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Bear Creek Road around 12:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, witnesses told them two males, including 18-year-old Stanley Walker Jr., were involved in an argument. A resident of the home then intervened, at which time Walker pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired a shot into the ground.

A short time later, witnesses reported hearing several more gunshots and observed Walker firing an assault rifle into the crowd at the party.  A man, 18, and woman, 27, were struck by bullets and were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say Walker and a 17-year-old friend, who was shot in the leg by an unknown gunman, fled the scene in a vehicle before crashing a short distance away from the location. Walker fled the wrecked vehicle on foot while his wounded friend was transported to DCH before being taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Walker was captured a short time later by sheriff's deputies. He has since been charged with two counts of attempted murder and is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $120,000.

The condition of the 17-year-old is unknown at this time.
