Two Arrested After Chase With Police

Two Tuscaloosa men are behind bars after they led police on a chase Sunday morning.

Investigators say officers responded to a burglary in progress call in the Downs neighborhood around 12:30 a.m.

The caller saw a suspicious vehicle at a neighbor's house and saw two people go into the house. As three officers approached the house, the suspects left the house and began to leave the scene. The officers identified themselves and gave the command to stop. Investigators say the driver accelerated and drove towards the officers. The officers discharged their weapons and the vehicle brushed against one of the officers and left the scene. The suspect vehicle led officers on a short pursuit, they took off on foot on Hargrove road and were captured.

Police have charged 26-year-old Marcus Dupre' Johnson. He has been identified as the driver. He is facing three counts of attempted murder, one count of burglary 3rd, one count of possession burglar's tools and two counts of reckless endangerment. Also facing charges, 19-year-old Zhalil Tachaka Ware. He is charged with Burglary 3rd and possession of burglar's tools. Both are being held in the Tuscaloosa County jail.
