Birmingham Police join mentoring program

The Birmingham Police Department has formed a partnership with The Dannon Project for a Youth and Adult Mentoring Program. The program is looking for men and women mentors, 21 years of age or older, willing to work with young parents and ex-offenders by assisting them get back on their feet and become economically self-sufficient for their families.

The Dannon Project helps restore lives through providing assistance including short term training and certifications, job preparation and placement to youth, unemployed, underemployed and re-entry services to previously incarcerated persons, to repair, restore, and give them second chances for achieving success in life.

Potential mentors are asked to come to Avondale Park on Friday, July 26, 2013. Organizers will be on hand between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to register mentors and provide additional information on the program.
