The Forestdale Fire Marshal today uncovered an illegal gambling operation while attempting to conduct a building inspection in the 1400 block of Beauty Circle.

According to Chief Deputy Randy Christian, the marshal requested assistance from Jefferson County sheriff's deputies shorty after 4 p.m. after discovering a false wall and a passage inside a business that led to an adjacent retail space, where alcohol and snacks were being sold to people playing illegal gambling machines.

Sheriff's detectives and members of the District Attorney's office joined deputies at the scene to investigate while law enforcement members began loading the machines into a truck.
