Intense thunderstorms packed with heavy rains have caused flash flooding in parts of Alabama.

While the storms are not considered severe, the downpours have resulted in flooded roads in parts of Jefferson County and Birmingham.

The weather service said flash flooding was likely near Montgomery, with deluges of as much as 2 inches of rain possible in a short time.

The National Weather Service says more rain is possible through the rest of the week, although Thursday is supposed to be drier.
