COLUMBIANA - AL -

The search continues for an escaped inmate believed to be the suspect of two weekend robberies in Shelby County. Multiple law enforcement agencies are looking for 36 year old Shannon Loyd Crumpton.

Crumpton is described six feet tall and 165 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair. The 36 year old also has tattoo sleeves on both arms.

He was last seen in the Summerhill area where he fled from Calera police around 12:30 Sunday afternoon. Egg and Butter Road in Columbiana became the focus of the search.

Shelby County Sheriff's deputies say Crumpton escaped from Red Eagle Work Release program in Montgomery on Saturday and those familiar with him have reviewed video surveillance from the robberies and believe he is the suspect.

A convenience store in Jemison was robbed Saturday night. The male suspect is described as wearing a Chilton County High School football shirt and shorts. Deputies say he left in a tan 2000 Chevrolet Malibu that was reported stolen from Clanton early Sunday morning.

Deputies say the same description was given for the suspect of a robbery at a Shelby convenience store. It happened at 7:40 a.m. Sunday.

People in the Summerhill area are urged to be cautious because Crumpton is considered armed and dangerous.
