Bessemer police have arrested two of three suspects in connection with early morning armed robberies at two area gas stations this week.

An adult male and juvenile female are currently in police custody for the alleged involvement in the robbery of a Chevron gas station on Wednesday and a Kangaroo Express service station Thursday.

The Chevron located at 1228 18th Street North was robbed around 4 a.m. A black male held the gas station's night cashier at gunpoint then struck the employee several times with the handgun before he and a young female accomplice fled the scene.

The Kangaroo Express located at 830 9th Avenue North was robbed around 3:30 a.m. by the same two suspects. The male suspect was armed with a small caliber rifle during the robbery.

In both incidents, the suspects arrived and left the locations on foot, but detectives believe a third suspect waited nearby in a vehicle, serving as a getaway driver.

The identities of both suspects in custody are being withheld as charges are still pending.

Police have not released a description of the third suspect who remains at large.
