MONTGOMERY - AL -

The state will investigate claims that prison workers are physically and mentally abusing inmates at three men's prisons.  That's the word today from Governor Robert Bentley.
The claims were made by the Equal Justice Initiative.  The group issued a report saying it had found dozens of cases of corrections officers abusing men at the prisons.  The three prison named are the Elmore Correctional Facility in Elmore; Bibb Correctional Facility in Brent and Donaldson prison near Bessemer.
The Governor says he and state Corrections Commissioner Kim Thomas will not tolerate inappropriate conduct by prison workers.
Bentley says state officials followed up on an earlier report by the organization involving Tutwiler Prison for woman in Wetumpka.  He says the state is making changes at Tutwiler.
