James Spann's weekend weather outlook

Posted: Updated:

Chief Meteorologist James Spann just released his weather outlook for the weekend on the ABC 33/40 Weather Blog, and he writes that the wet conditions across the state could continue into Saturday.

Heavy rains and thunderstorms has prompted the National Weather Service in Birmingham to leave a flash flood watch in effect for much of the state tomorrow. Moist air is expected to linger around next week, presenting the potential for daily, scattered storms mixed in with sunshine and warmer temperatures.

Forecast for Saturday from the NWS in Birmingham.

Birmingham reached a high of 76 degrees today, which checks in just four degrees warmer than the city's record set in 1940.

Torrential rains and strong thunderstorms put quite the damper on the Fourth of July holiday for people on the Gulf Coast this week, but Spann says the storms should begin improving late in the weekend and into next week.
