LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Former Auburn and Arkansas State running back Michael Dyer says he is hopeful that a third university will give him a chance to play football.

Dyer has earned a 2-year degree and tells ESPN that he wants to play college ball rather than enter the NFL supplemental draft. He says he wants to clear his name after drug- and weapon-related run-ins.

The former Little Rock Christian player helped Auburn win a national title as a freshman. He transferred to Arkansas State, but was bounced from the team after he was stopped for speeding and found with a gun.

He has two years of eligibility left.

A relative told ESPN there is some interest at Illinois State, Troy and Western Kentucky, which is coached by former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino.
