Huntsville Stars clarify gun giveaway promotion on 'Second Amendment Night'

In response to several reports of a free gun giveaway night scheduled for July 3, the Huntsville Stars are now clarifying the details of the controversial promotion.

The Class-AA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers are promoting next week's game as "Second Amendment Night", which offers card-carrying National Rifle Association members free admission and a raffle to win gift certificates to Larry's Pistol and Pawn.

When you look at the online flyer for the game posted on the Stars' Facebook page, one can easily see how people were confused about the promotion. It says above three images of Ruger weapons, "Come to the game for a chance to win one of three guns!"

It doesn't mention the raffle drawing for gift certificates.

Despite the rumors, the Stars say there will not be guns at the stadium to be handed out to fans. The team posted the following message on its official Twitter page Friday afternoon:

"There is not a 'gun giveaway' as some of the bloggers have posted. Please fact check before U post & treat your keypad as if it was loaded."
