A 51-year-old Gadsden woman was arrested in Rainbow City Friday on gambling charges.

According to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office, investigators arrested Michelle Regina Garbe at Center Stage located at 206 Rescia Avenue. She has been charged with one count of promoting gambling and one count of possession of a gambling device, both of which are misdemeanors.

Sheriff's Office investigators seized two electronic bingo machines from the facility at 1 p.m. Prior to the arrest and seizure, undercover law enforcement officers entered the location to verify that the machines were present and being played.

"As a 30 year law enforcement officer in Etowah County, we've always arrested and prosecuted anyone who brings illegal electronic gambling machines in the county," Sheriff Entrekin said.  "We have worked hard, along with other law enforcement agencies, to enforce Alabama laws that state electronic gambling devices are illegal.  And until those laws are changed, we will continue to do so."

Garbe was transported to the Etowah County Detention Center, where she was later released on $2,000 bond.
