Your Health 6-14-13 Medication support for seniors

   One of the biggest expenses for older adults can often be medications.
     But, there is support make seniors can afford them.
 Ashley Lemsky with the Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging spoke with ABC 33/40's News Anchor/Health Reporter, Linda Mays about the SenioRx Program.  Lemky offered this information:
      SenioRx is a medication assistance program funded through the Alabama Department of Senior Services.  The services are free.
    It assists people 55 or older and anyone on social security disability at any age.
     It serves people without drug coverage, those with high out-of-pocket costs, people in the Medicare Part-D gap/donut hole, and those on social security disability in the 24-month waiting period .
    There is an income requirement for the program for an individual or for a couple.
     It serves Blount, Chilton, Shelby, St. Clair and Walker counties.
