Deputies investigating fatal accident on Pinson Valley Parkway

A two-vehicle accident Pinson Thursday afternoon left one person dead and two others seriously injured, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports.

The crash involving a Ford SUV and a four-door sedan occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near a Chevron gas station at the intersection of Sweeney Hollow Road and Highway 79 (Pinson Valley Parkway).

At least one person was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The identity of the deceased victim has yet to be released.

Details surrounding the cause of the accident were not immediately made available. An investigation is ongoing.
