Two charged in vehicle chase in Etowah County

In Etowah County, two people have been charged in connection to a vehicle chase.  Darrell Scott Firestone has been charged with one count of resisting arrest and one count of attempting to elude.  The 30 year old is also charged with ten traffic violations, including an expired and switched license plate.  Additional charges are pending.

 

Amanda Michelle Sims is also charged in the case.  She faces a count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.  The duo authorities on a six-minute chase in the Ballplay community Wednesday after they attempted to make a traffic stop.  Firestone and Sims took the pursuit through a resident's yard, neighboring driveway and into a cotton field. 

The chase ended when the suspect's vehicle died in the middle of Centre Road causing a minor collision with a police car.  Both are being held at the Etowah County Detention Center.
