Alabama men's golf in third place after first day of NCAA's

Alabama men's golf trails Arizona State and Georgia Tech after the first day of the NCAA Championships.

Auburn men's golf struggled, and sits in 27th after day one.

The 30-team event began Tuesday morning at the Capital City Club in Milton, GA. The field will be narrowed to the top eight teams after Thursday's third round.

The first three days of the championships are in stroke play format. The tournament become match-play beginning on Friday.

Alabama was led by sophomore Justin Thomas, who shot a 3-under-par 67 to open the NCAA Championships. Bobby Wyatt and Cory Whitsett also fired under par.
