Motorcycle accident shuts down I-65 North near Cullman

A motorcycle accident on Interstate 65 North near Cullman has shut down all lanes of traffic Friday afternoon.

A lifesaver helicopter was called to the scene to transport a victim to the hospital as traffic continues to back up for miles. The wreck happened at around 3 p.m.

Alabama State Troopers say the driver of the motorcycle was in critical condition. Information regarding the cause of the accident was not immediately available.

Earlier today, troopers worked an accident on I-65 South near Verbena in Chilton County. The wreck occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m and traffic has since resumed. No fatalities were reported.

According to the car lobby group AAA, 31.2 million drivers are expected on the nation's highways over Memorial Day weekend.
